The Sziget Festival (Sziget, pronounced [ˈsiɡɛt] ( listen), is the Hungarian for “Island”) is one of the largest music and cultural festivals in Europe. It is held every August in northern Budapest, Hungary, on Óbudai-sziget (“Old Buda Island”), a leafy 108-hectare (266-acre) island on the Danube.
More than 1,000 performances take place each year.
Sziget Festival invites music and art lovers, open-minded people from all over
the world for the 24th time to Budapest next year.
We call Sziget the Island of Freedom. Freedom means a lot of things for us, like creativity. That’s why we support artists and art projects relentlessly.
We believe that experiences and inspiration makes us more, even if it is music, dance, theatre, fine art or installations. We are highly affected by our surroundings, so our dream was to build Sziget as we want to see the world: the playfulness of space, colors and forms as well as the experience of movement even in the most unexpected time. Dear Szitizens, you are the ones who fill Sziget with life and freedom!
